Firefox IDN exploit

Posted on Friday 11 February 2005

By now you’ve probably heard of the Firefox IDN exploit that allows anyone to spoof a domain if they register homologues domain names in another language. While the network.enableIDN setting set to false in about:config was suggested as a workaround for the problem, it did not work for me at all. I believe this may be because I’m using a Moox optimized build instead of the standard Firefox version (grab one of those builds when you get the chance, they are a lot faster than regular builds). Allessandro Crugnola (Sephiroth) suggests modifying the AdBlock settings and this worked out perfectly for me. Please follow the steps outlined here to resolve this very concerning issue.
