Allen Ellison and Jim Cheng of Architekture have created a nice set of tools to diagnose FlashComm video conferencing, available here. These were “were built to so that we could easily create reproducible test cases in a simplified video
conferencing test environment without the additional complexity and overhead of proprietary or
application-specific code.
” The display is optimized for 1200×1600 but it’s still quite usable. These guys are quite busy so don’t expect any support, but there’s a complete help file that you will want to read through to get you started. Very nice work.
Regular readers of this blog will remember that these are the same guys I flamed for the recent article on FlashComm video conferencing optimization on MM’s dev center that I found, hmm, unsatisfactory. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to these guys for being an idiot. While the article is still not to my satisfaction, I think they are making quite a nice contribution to the community with these new tools, and everything else they’ve done before as Jesse quickly pointed out to me.
Other times I’ve been an idiot I should apologize about:
- I’m sorry for ever saying that Mike Chambers should be fired
- I’m sorry for flaming Christophe for committing a broken AMFPHP serializer when I’ve broken it myself more times than I can count.
- I’m sorry about that time I slept with my ex-girlfriend when her current boyfriend was a very good friend of mine, and then bragging about it to just about everyone in Quebec City.
- There’s more stuff but it gets a bit nasty so I’ll just say I’m sorry to everyone for being such an asshole about everything.
