First of all, I would like to announce the official new AMFPHP logo, a wonderful entry by Philip Ringli of Sichtwerk:

And now it’s time to announce the newest contest for the AMFPHP website. A few people have pointed out that we didn’t make enough efforts to bring in talented designers to the last contest. Well, we’ve certainly solved that this time around with the superbly fabulous prizes courtesy of FlashLoaded and Fonts for Flash:
- 1 copy of the bit component set (a favorite of mine)
- 1 copy of the blog scroller component
- 1 copy of the dropMenu component
- 20 (!) fonts from Fonts for Flash (Mac or PC)
The prizes will be distributed both among the winning entries AND among the participants so everyone has a chance to win. Bloggers are invited to spread the word in our quest for the phattest website for an open source project ever.
Guidelines:
- Design should be viewable in 800 by 600 with no horizontal scrollbar
- The new site should be purely HTML+CSS except for the examples and perhaps some Captivate tutorials. This site is created in a collaborative environment between several people and therefore would be a pain to maintain in Flash.
- The site should be well adapted for search engines, meaning in particular:
- The menu should be pure HTML (no images)
- All titles should be pure HTML (unless you have the intention of furnishing and setting up SIFr)
- The text should be pure HTML
- As a general rule, the site should be geared both toward designers and programmers. Designers don’t like ugly site and programmers don’t like fluffy sites, so we need a plain, no-frills, good looking HTML-based site.
- The site will have (at least) the following sections: Home, Download, Documentation, Showcase, Resources, Contribute, Wiki and Forum, so think about that when making your menu.
- The contest ends on June 15th.
Grab the AMFPHP logo in EPS format here. You can upload your designs to your own web space and post the link here.
Notes on judging: the last poll didn’t go over too well because there was some ballot stuffing (which was remedied eventually). The judging this time will be done by a select group consisting of contributors to the AMFPHP contest (including Justin, Wolfgang, me et al.).
