FP8: the good, the bad, the ugly

Posted on Friday 15 July 2005

Looks like English readers are lagging behind the rest of the world regarding FP8. The best source for Flash 8 goodness so far has turned out to be our friend Pablo and his Spanish blog; Pablo is otherwise known for his excellent LuminicBox logger app. He has a series of examples on his blog with source code showing filters, the new text antialias, as well as an immense list of links to examples made by people around the world who have way too much time on their hands. I usually find these beta races pretty pointless, but in this case, a couple of the files are really too damn cool to pass up. So here’s Pablo’s blog and a direct link to Protozoo, another good stop for FP8 material.

Did I mention the recent flame wars pitting MTASC writer/genius Nicolas Canasses against Peter Hall, with interventions on both sides by the likes of Keith Peters, Aral Balkan, Darron Schall, Sönke Ronde, Claus Walhers and just about every other big name in Flash-dom on the OSFlash list because of ONE PAGE on Flash 8 on the OSFlash wiki? This is turning into fratricide. I haven’t mentionned anything on list because I found the whole thing so pointless, but ferchrissake’s people, it’s Flash, it’s not a fugging religion. I’m not even picking sides, I’m just saying that I don’t like it when my lists email account has 75 messages in it when I last checked it 8 hours ago (and I receive Flashcoders in digest mode, before anyone asks). ‘Nuff said.
