Deploy Flex for less than 1000$

Posted on Thursday 6 October 2005

Everybody’s heard of Flex 2 and AS3 by now. Am I the only one who actually read the press release?

Macromedia is also introducing a new tiered licensing model to bring the power of Flex development within reach of every professional application developer, while also offering value-added capabilities that scale to meet the needs of the most sophisticated enterprise projects. Flex Builder 2 will be sold for less than $1000 per developer and will include the ability to develop, compile, and deploy Flex applications that connect to XML and SOAP web services with no additional charges or server licensing required.

I just hope this stuff about XML and SOAP web services really means XML, SOAP and Remoting… If we can develop Remoting-enabled Flex apps for less than a grand… OMG! All hell will break loose. The tides are turning my friends… Time to learn MXML. Thanks MM!

Update: Best info so far on Flex 2 and AS3 is on Mark Ander’s blog.
