Most webcam drivers will only allow single access to a webcam, which is a bit of a pain when testing FlashCom apps by yourself locally. There’s a couple of programs out there that will help you out if you ever run into this issue as I did recently.
- Virtual camera will create a virtual camera from a source such as a picture or a movie. You can pretend you’re chatting with Katie Holmes if you want! (okay, that was a bad joke)
- Camstasia studio is meant for screen recording but installs a webcam driver as a by-product, which you can use to record the screen and broadcast it
- CamSplitter, can generate duplicate virtual cameras, in addition to allowing to broadcast from a picture or movie source (much like the Virtual camera software). Haven’t tested it yet but if you do try it out feedback is appreciated.
