A new JavaScript library is available from Yahoo! Like prototype, Script.aculo.us, Mochikit and all the others out there, their library aims to make javascript suck less. XmlHttpRequest wrappers, animation, DOM helpers and a couple of common widgets are included in the package.
What I really like about this one is 1) the very extensive documentation and 2) the fact that it’s developed by Yahoo!, meaning they have 8-10 guys working on it making sure it works in every other browser out there, yet remains small enough to be deployed on a site with a few billion hits a month. Available here.
Also of note: check out all the webservices stuff they have available. Practically all of Yahoo! (including Flickr and del.icio.us) is available through XML, JSON and PHP serialized data. Rasmus Lerdorf (PHP inventor, Yahoo! employee) showcased a couple during his presentation at PHPQuebec, quite nice. This includes the new version of Yahoo! Maps where they have APIs for Flash and Flex. A nice example of integration is the latest version of madeinmtl.com where the locations of the different sites is shown using Yahoo! maps within a custom interface, with the coordinate data pulled from (you guessed it) amfphp. I have a feeling this one will end up in the showcase section ;)
